“The chief thing is to have a soul that loves the truth and harbors it where it finds it. And another thing: the truth requires constant repetition, because error is being preached about us all the time, and not only by isolated individuals but by the masses. In newspapers and encyclopedias, in schools and universities, everywhere error rides high and basks in the consciousness of having the majority on its side.”

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
Poet/Natural Philosopher

"A human being is part of a whole, called by us the 'Universe,' a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest — a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty."

Albert Einstein
Theoretical Physicist

"Outer space is within us inasmuch as the laws of space are within us; outer and inner space are the same. We have actually been born from space, since it was out of primordial space that the galaxy took form, of which our living sun is a member. And this earth, of whose material we are made, is a flying satellite of that sun. We are productions of this earth. We are its organs. Our eyes are the eyes of the earth; our knowledge is the earth's knowledge. And the earth, as we now know, is a production of space. . ."

"Human generosity is possible only because at the center of the solar system a magnificent stellar generosity pours forth free energy day and night without stop and without complaint and without the slightest hesitation. This is the way of the universe. This is the way of life. And this is the way in which each of us joins this cosmological lineage when we accept the Sun's gift of energy and transform it into creative action that will enable the community to flourish."

Brian Swimme
Mathematical Cosmologist

"A lonely ego, defining itself in morality and isolation, lacks the scope and expansiveness of the spirit. When it single-handedly attempts to operate a human mind, it is like a toddler wearing the oversized garments of an adult. It feels smothered beneath something made for another and larger being. It does not have the energy needed to use such an exquisite biological tool. Without the spirit, the ego is capable of using only about 10 percent of the brain's capacity, and even then its observations and conclusions are often inaccurate.

A mind that conceives of itself as fundamentally separate from all that it perceives is an instrument of division. It can do nothing but divide, analyze, compartmentalize, and dissect. Everything on which it turns its attention is reduced to disconnected segments, while the spirit, the life of the whole is forgotten. With the fictitious premise that it is fundamentally distinct from both God and nature lying at the root of its thinking, it is not capable of reason, for its premise is a lie.

This is why the historical egoic use of the human mind has been so destructive: it creates thoughts, images, personal identity structure, cultural institutions, and ultimately entire civilizations that are based upon the illusion that the individual is fundamentally distinct from the ground of being from which it and all creation have emerged."

"If we look more deeply into humanity's ancient religions and spiritual traditions, we will find that underneath the many surface differences there are two core insights that most of them agree on. The words they use to describe those insights differ, yet they all point to a twofold fundamental truth. The first part of this truth is the realization that the "normal" state of mind of most human beings contains a strong element of what we might call dysfunction or even madness. Certain teachings at the heart of Hinduism perhaps come closest to seeing this dysfunction as a form of collective mental illness. They call it maya, the veil of delusion. Ramana Maharshi, one of the greatest Indian sages, bluntly states: "The mind is maya."

Buddhism uses different terms. According to the Buddha, the human mind in its normal state generates dukkha, which can be translated as suffering, unsatisfactoriness, or just plain misery. He sees it as a characteristic of the human condition. Wherever you go, whatever you do, says the Buddha, you will encounter dukkha, and it will manifest in every situation sooner or later.

According to Christian teachings, the normal collective state of humanity is one of "original sin". Sin is a word that has been greatly misunderstood and misinterpreted. Literally translated from the ancient Greek in which the New Testament was written, to sin means to miss the mark, as an archer who misses the target, so to sin means to miss the point of human existence. It means to live unskillfully, blindly, and thus to suffer and cause suffering. Again, the term, stripped of its cultural baggage and misinterpretations, points to the dysfunction inherent in the human condition.

The achievements of humanity are impressive and undeniable. We have created sublime works of music, literature, painting, architecture, and sculpture. More recently, science and technology have brought about radical changes in the way we live and have enabled us to do and created things that would have been considered miraculous eve two hundred years ago. No doubt: The human mind is highly intelligent. Yet its very intelligence is tainted by madness. Science and technology have magnified that destructive impact that the dysfunction of the human mind has upon the planet, other life-forms, and upon humans themselves. That is why the history of the twentieth century is where that dysfunction, that collective insanity, can be most clearly recognized. A further factor is that this dysfunction is actually intensifying and accelerating."

"Everything about you is a fragment. Your mind accumulates these fragments from moment to moment. When you think you know something, you refer only to one scrap of the past. Can such a mind ever know the whole?

To be really free, there is no option except to be yourself. By being yourself you open up the door to what is, the never-ending play of cosmic intelligence curving back to know itself again and again. In this way life remains fresh and fulfills its need to renew itself at every moment."

“The movement can’t be divided because it is so atomized – a collection of small pieces, loosely joined. It forms, dissipates, then regathers quickly without central leadership, command or control. Rather than seeking dominance, this unnamed movement seeks to disperse concentrations of power. It has been capable of bringing down governments, companies, and leaders through witnessing, informing, and massing. The quickening of the movement in recent years has come about through information technologies becoming accessible and affordable to people everywhere. Its clout resides in its ideas, not in force.

Picture the collective presence of all human beings as a single organism. Pervading that organism are intelligent activities, humanity’s immune response to resist and heal the effects of political corruption, economic disease, and ecological degradation, whether they are the result of free-market, religious, or political ideologies.

The movement has three basic roots: environmental activism, social justice initiatives, and indigenous cultures’ resistance to globalization, all of which have become intertwined. Collectively, it expresses the needs of the majority of people on the earth to sustain the environment, wage peace, democratize decision making and policy, reinvent public governance piece by piece from the bottom up, and improve lives — women, children, and the poor.”

"The latest science leads us to a worldview not unlike that held by the earliest civilizations, in which every material object in Nature was thought to possess a spirit. The Universe is still thought of as One by the small number of aborigines who survive. Aboriginal cultures do not make the usual distinctions among rocks, air and humans; all are imbued with spirit, the invisible energy. Doesn't this sound familiar? This is the world of quantum physics, in which matter and energy are completely entangled. And it is the world of Gaia, a world in which the whole planet is considered to be one living, breathing organism, which needs to be protected for human greed, ignorance and poor planning.

Never have we needed the insights of such a worldview more. When Science turned away for Spirit, its mission dramatically changed. Instead of trying to understand the "natural order" so that human beings can live in harmony with that order, Modern Science embarked on a goal of control and domination of Nature. The technology that has resulted from pursuing this philosophy has brought human civilization to the brink of spontaneous combustion by disrupting the web of Nature. The evolution of our biosphere has been punctuated by five "mass extinctions", including the one that killed the dinosaurs. Each wave of extinction nearly wiped out all life on the planet. Some researchers believe that we are deep into the sixth mass extinction. Unlike the others caused by galactic forces such as comets, the current extinction is being caused by a force much closer to home - humans. As you sit on your porch and watch the sunset, note its spectacular color. The beauty in the sky reflects the pollution in the air. As the world we know decays, the Earth promises us an even greater light show."

"Light is color, color is light. They both are vibratory wave bands of photons traveling at various frequencies. Therefore at some level, no matter how subtle, we influence our surroundings and our surroundings influence us. Sound, color, cell towers, thoughts, air, water, emotions, food... everything holds a certain wavelength. When pure sunlight intermingles and integrates with the atoms of matter, there is a chance for some sort of energetic alteration.

Matter is condensed light. An atom appears to have mass that is the smallest particle capable of existence. Yet on a cosmic level, prolonged existence is only a speck of time. Mass is but an illusion, based on reactive forces of gravity, temperature, pressure on condensed light. Living organisms are transformers of energy and they operate with radiant and electrical energy. Life is in constant motion. It has intelligence and has the ability to store and release energy at will.

Gases, liquids and solids are transformed when integrated into life forms. Light particles are constantly intermingling, interacting, integrating and radiating within the particles of matter. They move at rates the mind can scarcely fathom, and for only adepts to see. When white light strikes atomic mass, the electron or orbiting bands gyrate certain resonance factors, setting up harmonic oscillations. Each molecule can be seen as a tiny electromagnetic oscillator, electively absorbing and vibrating color bands. Color is thus a signature of the molecule's resonance factors.

By singling out the use of particular colors (and different vibrations), we can affect the behavior and growth patterns and various physical responses of an organism, be it plant, animal or human. For example, by using the color red for long periods of time we can cause violent, fertile, aggressive or physically stimulating activity in an object. In plants, the vibration of the color red causes an increase of fruition and seed production. By using the color blue or green (the other end of the electromagnetic spectrum) we can induce relaxation and sleep."

"Life is basically an energy experience. All of our human interactions, as well as our physiological functions, are vibrational in nature. The sun's vibrational energy is the most potent life-sustaining force in our very immediate "universe", which we call the solar system. It is now clear that different aspects, or frequencies, of this energy have different effects on our moods, behaviors, and vital functions. Therefore, the biological receptivity of an organism to these different frequencies will determine which aspects of its functions and awareness will be stimulated and nourished. Each separate frequency, or color of the spectrum, has nutritional value, and is the food for the initial development of constant evolvement of certain aspects of our being. Together, these frequencies unite into a rainbow of balanced nutrition that connects and synchronizes the vital functions of all organisms with the natural chronology of the cosmos.

It is my experience that our constantly changing states of consciousness determine the degree to which we are emotionally and biologically receptive. This, in turn, determines which portions of the spectrum we are attuned to (our vibrational experience) and, therefore, which ones we are more receptive to. Our total development is dependent upon the quality and specific aspects of universal light to which we are receptive. Light is that super terrestrial, natural force under which all life on Earth originates and develops."

. . . "Just as the film in a projector transforms light into the movie we observe on the screen, the ideas imprinted in the mind convert the one light of Source into the rainbow of frequencies we experience as life. As we look at the world around us, we see a multicolored projection of our inner self. The frequencies of life we are attracted to represent the aspects of ourselves we are most comfortable with. The frequencies we are not attracted to remind us of the aspects of ourselves we've yet to embrace.

Change our ideas - the mind's film - and everything changes. When we stop identifying with our ideas altogether, the film dissolves completely, allowing light to move through us without resistance. We become full-spectrum beings - holographic focal points of the sun - radiating the light of God into the world. When things no longer matter, life once again becomes light."

"Humans have the awareness and intelligence that are the raw materials for enlightenment and the very suffering that pervades this human realm is itself the spur to spiritual transformation. Pain, grief, loss and ceaseless frustration of every kind are there for a real and dramatic purpose: to wake us up, to enable us and almost to force us to break out of the cycle of samsara and so release our imprisoned splendor."

"To be one does not mean to be all the same. Each being is unique. No two occupy the same space. As the leaf needs all parts for completion, so each spirit has its special place. People can try to maneuver, but in the end each will return to the right place. Some of us seek a straight path while others enjoy the weariness of making circles."

"At every moment sensations are arising within the body. Usually the conscious mind is unaware of them, but the unconscious mind feels the sensations and reacts to them with craving or aversion. If the mind is trained to become fully conscious of all that occurs within the physical structure and at the same time to maintain equanimity, then the old habit of blind reaction is broken. One learns how to remain equanimous in every situation, and can therefore live a balanced, happy life.

You are here to experience the truth about yourself, how this phenomenon works, how it generates misery. There are two aspects of the human phenomenon: material and mental, body and mind. One must observe both. But one cannot actually experience the body without awareness of what arises in the body, that is, sensation. Similarly one cannot observe mind separately form what arises in the mind, that is, thought. As one goes deeper in experiencing the truth of mind and matter, it becomes clear that whatever arises in the mind is also accompanied by a physical sensation. Sensation is of central importance for experiencing the reality of both body and mind, and it is the point at which reactions start. In order to observe the truth of oneself and to stop generating mental defilements, one must be aware of sensations and remain equanimous as continuously as possible."

"It is man's task to carry out the completion of the spiritualization of the Earth, a task at which all living creatures are at work, each within the limits of its own particular development. And every human being who transforms himself from a being identical with the body into a being reawakened in spirit, a divine being - identifying his consciousness with the divine self - has fulfilled his duty. He has spiritualized a bit of the Earth. He has advanced by one step the salvation of the Earth. Then he can co-operate as a helper in the salvation of other beings."

. . . "All energy, all forces of the universe, are movements which emanate from one point - their own centers - and radiate in circular waves in all directions manifesting themselves as vibrations or oscillations. These manifestations of force cease only when the forces that have got out of balance regain their primordial state of equilibrium, the divine unity."

" The Galactic Alignment in 2012 is about a field-effect energy reversal. On the level of human civilization, our basic assumptions and foundational values will be exposed, and we will have the opportunity to embrace values long since driven under the surface of our collective consciousness. When a given set of rules and assumptions has run its course, and has led civilization to the end of a particular road, the opposite orientation begins to appear. The full manifestation of one style of human expression thus gives way, like the old year gives way to the new, to a fresh style based upon a completely opposite set of values and assumptions. This polarization is beautifully symbolized by the Chinese Tai-Chi symbol, which is very similar to a Mesoamerican design commonly referred to as Hunab Ku.

Both of these symbols portray a process-oriented transformation from one extreme to the other that occurs on many levels of reality, from night changing into day to the evolution of values in a civilization. In terms of the spiritual evolution of human beings, this metaphor evokes eras of darkness giving way to eras of light, the eternal battle between ignorance and consciousness, and we can thus begin to understand the 2012 field-reversal as a moment in which the human spirit can emerge from unconscious patterns and blossom."

"A little wave is bobbing along in the ocean, having a grand old time. He's enjoying the wind and fresh air — until he notices the other waves in front of him, crashing against the shore. ‘My God, this is terrible', the wave says ‘Look what is going to happen to me!' Then along comes another wave. It sees the first wave looking grim and says to him, ‘Why do you look so sad?' The first wave says, ‘You don't understand! We're all going to crash! All of us waves are going to be nothing! Isn't it terrible?' The second wave says, ‘No, you don't understand. You're not a wave, you're part of the ocean.'"

"If you look at the cycles of the moon, it starts as a thin crescent and then gradually waxes until it becomes full; then it gradually wanes back into another crescent and then it is gone. The moon reflects sunlight like humans reflect information. We wax and wane and when we become full moons, our egos are full. We think we have this knowledge when in fact, the information we have is pure. And how it reflects or shines off of us, is something we take credit for as though the moon could take credit for its brightness when, in fact, it is only reflecting light from the sun. We have to understand that we are ego-less just as the moon is without light. It and we are simply reflectors. The ego is not responsible for the information. It can reflect the information in creative ways, but the information itself is pure."

"The great events of world history are, at bottom, profoundly unimportant. In the last analysis, the essential thing is the life of the individual. This alone makes history, here alone do the great transformations first take place, and the whole future, the whole history of the world, ultimately spring as a gigantic summation from these hidden sources within individuals. In our most private and most subjective lives we are not only the passive witnesses of our age, and its sufferers, but its makers. We make our own epoch."

"A [spiritual] warrior acknowledges his pain but doesn't indulge in it. Thus the mood of a warrior who enters into the unknown is not one of sadness; on the contrary, he's joyful because he feels humbled by his great fortune, confident that his spirit is impeccable, and above all, fully aware of his efficiency. A warrior's joyfulness comes from having accepted his fate, and from having truly assessed what lies ahead of him." . . . . . . "his love is the world. That's why his life is filled to the brim and his state, wherever he'll be, will be plentiful. He roams on the paths of his love and, wherever he is, he is complete. Only if one loves this Earth with unbending passion can one release one's sadness. A warrior is always joyful because his love is unalterable and his beloved, the Earth, embraces him and bestows upon him inconceivable gifts. The sadness belongs only to those who hate the very thing that gives shelter to their beings. This Earth, which is alive to its last recesses and understands every feeling, soothed me, it cured me of my pains, and finally when I had fully understood my love for it, it taught me freedom. Only the love for this splendorous being can give freedom to a warrior's spirit; and freedom is joy, efficiency, and abandon in the face of any odds."

"The President in Washington sends word that he wishes to buy our land. But how can you buy or sell the sky? the land? The idea is strange to us. If we do not own the freshness of the air and the sparkle of the water, how can you buy them?

Every part of the earth is sacred to my people. Every shining pine needle, every sandy shore, every mist in the dark woods, every meadow, every humming insect. All are holy in the memory and experience of my people.

We know the sap which courses through the trees as we know the blood that courses through our veins. We are part of the earth and it is part of us. The perfumed flowers are our sisters. The bear, the deer, the great eagle, these are our brothers. The rocky crests, the dew in the meadow, the body heat of the pony, and man all belong to the same family.

The shining water that moves in the streams and rivers is not just water, but the blood of our ancestors. If we sell you our land, you must remember that it is sacred. Each glossy reflection in the clear waters of the lakes tells of events and memories in the life of my people. The water's murmur is the voice of my father's father.

The rivers are our brothers. They quench our thirst. They carry our canoes and feed our children. So you must give the rivers the kindness that you would give any brother.

If we sell you our land, remember that the air is precious to us, that the air shares its spirit with all the life that it supports. The wind that gave our grandfather his first breath also received his last sigh. The wind also gives our children the spirit of life. So if we sell our land, you must keep it apart and sacred, as a place where man can go to taste the wind that is sweetened by the meadow flowers.

Will you teach your children what we have taught our children? That the earth is our mother? What befalls the earth befalls all the sons of the earth.

This we know: the earth does not belong to man, man belongs to the earth. All things are connected like the blood that unites us all. Man did not weave the web of life, he is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself.

One thing we know: our God is also your God. The earth is precious to him and to harm the earth is to heap contempt on its creator.

Your destiny is a mystery to us. What will happen when the buffalo are all slaughtered? The wild horses tamed? What will happen when the secret corners of the forest are heavy with the scent of many men and the view of the ripe hills is blotted with talking wires? Where will the thicket be? Gone! Where will the eagle be? Gone! And what is to say goodbye to the swift pony and then hunt? The end of living and the beginning of survival.

When the last red man has vanished with this wilderness, and his memory is only the shadow of a cloud moving across the prairie, will these shores and forests still be here? Will there be any of the spirit of my people left?

We love this earth as a newborn loves its mother's heartbeat. So, if we sell you our land, love it as we have loved it. Care for it, as we have cared for it. Hold in your mind the memory of the land as it is when you receive it. Preserve the land for all children, and love it, as God loves us.

As we are part of the land, you too are part of the land. This earth is precious to us. It is also precious to you.

One thing we know — there is only one God. No man, be he Red man or White man, can be apart. We ARE all brothers after all."

"In a cosmos of billions of galaxies
In a galaxy of billions of stars,
There's a planet with billions of people -
The only one we know,
And every breath we breathe is a miracle.
Our hearts pump.
We see, we feel, we taste, we hear, we touch our world.
And sometimes we forget the pure wonder
Of our brief journey on earth.
My life is committed to making artwork
That wakes people up to the miracle of Life.
The value of being human
And the transformative power of Love.
There are moments when we see
Behind the opaque curtain of Life,
When the infinite One
Shines through the skin of the beloved
And we recognize the game we are in,
The journey we are on,
The powerful beings that we are
And the truth that is worth living for.
Let us build a new Temple
In accordance with this vision.
Where the interfaith Spirit of pure possibility
Can be embodied in transformative architecture.
Vision becomes Form.
To build Sacred Space is the art of a community.
